Frozen base and indexation

This is the heart of how LaneGain keeps long-running offers honest.

The problem. A quote is sent in July; fuel moves in September. Reprice everything and you erode trust; change nothing and you erode margin.

The model. At send time, the offer’s base price is frozen — snapshotted with a timestamp. Only the live components — fuel and applicable surcharges — remain indexable afterwards.

How the index is computed. The index is the absolute currency delta of the live cost components, passed through to the client price. If the fuel component was €142.30 at fixation and is €150.10 today, the client price moves by exactly +€7.80 — not by a percentage applied to the whole price.

Why absolute deltas and not percentages: a percentage applied to the full price silently reprices the frozen base too. Client price +3% is not the same thing as costs +3% — the first inflates your base; the second is what actually happened. LaneGain passes through what actually happened.

What the client experiences. A price change always decomposes into one sentence: the base is unchanged since the offer date; the fuel component moved by X euros. Nothing else moved, because nothing else can move.
