The calculator

The calculator is where a route becomes a cost.

Building the route. You add stops and legs. Each stop has a role — loading, delivery, or stopover (an internal repositioning point). Each leg has a transport mode: road, ferry or rail.

Distances. Road legs get their distance from HERE truck routing — real truck-legal routing, not car routing. Ferry, rail and combined legs take their distance from the contracted service rate for that line, because on a fixed line the supplier’s tariff distance is the commercial truth.

Costs. For every leg, LaneGain resolves the applicable supplier rate version (see Supplier rates), then layers fuel (see Fuel) and applicable surcharges (see Surcharges) on top. Every component is shown separately — you always see what the total is made of.

Margin per load. The roundtrip’s total cost is set against the sales price of its loads. The margin is shown per load, in absolute currency and in percent, before any offer is created.

Saving and duplicating. Calculations are saved and can be duplicated as a starting point for a similar route — validity dates are re-resolved, so a duplicate never silently reuses expired rates.
