Core concepts
Organisation. A company subscribed to LaneGain — typically a freight forwarder. All data (rates, clients, calculations, offers) belongs to exactly one organisation. Units and currency are organisation-level settings.
Client (freight buyer). A company you sell transport to. Clients are stored as companies with contact persons. They are not members of your organisation — they only ever see the offers you send them.
Lane. An origin–destination relation you price and sell, for example Riga → Rotterdam.
Leg. One segment of a route with a single transport mode: a road leg, a ferry leg or a rail leg. A route is a sequence of legs.
Stop. A point on the route with a role: loading, delivery, or an internal repositioning point (stopover). Roles — not positions in the list — determine what the client sees: client-facing documents show loading and delivery stops only.
Roundtrip. An outbound and return route priced together, so repositioning costs are carried by the paying loads.
Load. One transported shipment inside a roundtrip. Margin is calculated per load.
Calculation. A saved pricing of a roundtrip: all cost components, resolved and dated.
Offer. A client-facing document generated from a calculation. At the moment of sending, its price base is frozen (see Frozen base and indexation).
